Recovery

Hi all,

Sam is out of surgery and so far is recovering well. Sam's operation lasted a mammoth 8 hours! The doctors have reported that is has gone as expected and there were no complications. Karen (Sam's mum) mentioned he could wiggle his toes which is a good indication. Hopefully over the next few days that wiggling should work it's way up to his calves, knees, thighs and then to his pelvis, from there it's best not say where the wiggling goes (maybe something to picture in ones mind).

Of course this sudden input of crass humor can only mean it's Sarge here and not Sam referring to himself in the 3rd person (did get that right Ms Andrew? [my 5th form English teacher]).

It has been an anxious day for me today as I'm sure it has been for all of you. I know the communication dried up there for a while but I will endeavor to post at least every other day and keep you all up to speed as Sam makes his way through his post op recovery.

That's it from me

Be well everyone and big ups to the surgical team for getting him through in one piece.

Sarge

I have read this blog since hearing of Sam's illness a few weeks ago with admiration. The positivity and courage that has been shown by Sam and his support crew of family and friends is something I can only hope I would have in the same situation

I'm so relieved and happy to read that the operation went well Sam. Luke and I will be thinking of you as you recover in hospital. All our best wishes.

Good stuff Sammy. Glad to hear you're wiggling. Ok, here are my captions. They're awful:

1) No one knew why HairyFairyMan missed out on a call-back for the Xmen 3 auditions.

or

1) A deleted scene from Basic Instinct 2 - the body double used for close ups would have her lime green thong photoshopped out in post production

2) Jim had worked for a consumer testing company for the past three years. He enjoyed his job, it was better than his old job in the vaseline factory, and he was proud that he helped to keep consumers safe from shoddy workmanship. Jim tested all sorts of products before they were sold in the shops and often found design faults and things that could be made safer.
While working on a new range of camping goods, Jim decided to pack up the car and take the gear out into the wilderness to run it through its paces. Jim pitched his tent in a quite corner of the camping ground and unpacked the equipment ready to give it a good run for its money. He would test it to its limit in the name of safety.
After successfully warming his sausage and beans, Jim was surprised to find that this model of sleeping bag would melt if superheated with simple friction.

3) Marks night course in telekinesis was beginning to pay off. If he concentrated hard enough he was sure he could get his beer as well as his dignity.

or:

3) Audition shot from the original Brokeback mountain casting call - Making it through to the second audition Mark and Rego get ready to practice the scene devised to clinch them the parts they were so desperate for. So to speak...

or:

Delicately at first, the female rego spider taps rhythmically on the leg of its unsuspecting mate. The effect is hypnotising for the male. After this prolonged dance the female will eat the male, play guitar and slag off Jack Johnston for playing simple music

hey mate, long time listener, first time blogger. i was almost going to comment on the poor frequency up blog updates but that would force me to look at my own efforts, so best we gloss over that. very pleased the surgery went as planned and things are wiggling. what's next on the cards, these blog entries really are sporadic at best (ok there i said it). i can only assume we are supposed to make up our own scenarios... which can mean only one thing, the hilly has re opened and sam won the opening night wet t-shrit competition (sarge a distant second, mate i saw those fairy photos u were robbed) and sam is now world famous in hamiltion for reasons other than being the bearded museum guy.
thanks for keeping us posted, sending love, kisses and good health from all of australia esp. hayden.

As the world cup approaches, All Black fever is at an elevated pitch, Daniel Carter and Richie McCaw are beyond compare, you've got an easy group (after all Wales are just a bunch of stunted miners!), we might as well give you the cup now. Well watch out guys, if you win your easy group then there's France or Ireland, both capable of beating you on their day, and to follow that either South Africa or England. Bluntly you aint going to get past the semis, and probably not the quarters. Like all bullies (we haven't forgotten O'Driscoll), the ABs bottle goes when the going really gets tough.

p.s. great to hear your op went well Sam. And fantastic blog-site, it's wonderful to have the opportunity to speak to your rugby chums...
