Return of the King
Hi all,
good news Sam has left the hospital! I think I must have been a good 10-12 day stay this time round. Sam is feeling a whole heap better and over the next few days will get the chance to catch up on missed sleep and 40 or so meals he couldn't eat.
In all seriousness, Sam has loss a bit of weight during his recent ordeal and now will be a time where he can regain some condition. Sam did have radiation treatment yesterday afternoon and he is experiencing some positive results. His general walking stability has improved and some 'toe reflex thingy' is now responding correctly. Truly great stuff.
The Insoll house is undergoing the transformation from bachelor pad to wellness centre. Meditation classes start at 6 a.m. in the garden followed up by a small tea ceremony at 7. By the way you can now refer to me as Moonriver.
Sam has been receiving a number of thoughtful gestures recently. Notably some lovely flowers from the ex Hillcrest ladies and a large amount of fresh fruit and other goodies from Zoe, Nic and Kath. Impressively Zoe organised this from Brisbane which just goes to show why she is the reigning 'Admin Queen'.
Thanks for all your support

Hi Sam - I just got wind (sorry) of this blog thing, and sending warm thoughts to you seemed like a great reason to expand my cyber-capabilities. Because I believe in the power of positive visualisation (and studies have proven that the more people who do this, the better the outcome for the person being thought about - take note of that please other readers), I've been dedicating my daily river walks to thinking about you healthy and strong, picturing your smile, and visualising you playing soccer (I esepecially enjoy that). When you're ready for visitors, I'll bring something yummy to eat, and we can compare scars - I guess you'll win unless stretch marks count. It's wonderful news that you're home. Keep it up Sam. We're all behind you, thinking about you, and really looking forward to your recovery.

Virginia

Thank goodness the toe reflex is there! You ain't nobody without toe reflex.
Flex them piggies, Sam-and come up to see us in Screen and Media's new executive eyrie on I4.
Cheers,
Stan
Moonriver,
Great job on the blog site, makes it so much easier for us all to keep up to date on the latest. Legend effort.
Stoked to hear the man is home and in good hands.
I'll see you boys on Sunday arvo so save some fresh fruit for me OK!
Sammy,
Carla just gave me an update on your 'not so cheerful' news. I'm sure with your happy attitude you can work wonders on the nasty stuff. It sounds like you have heaps of people thinking and praying for your recovery, and now you have one more.
Go fourth and recover young man...we need your type, farts and all, to stick around.

Sarge, this interweb things a bit flash. nice work. there might be a job in this IT thing.
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarnsie you shaggy knuckled thesbian!
Shocked to hear you have cancer. Absolutely stoked as all anything to hear you're doing so well. Completely not surprised though as you're a determined wee bstrd when you want to be.
Great to hear that you've moved into the Insoll wellness centre for hairy-rehab. Watch that Sarge doesn't put a sign outside though and set up in business.
Hospitals suck and you wont have missed out by not eating in there. Sieved soup is probably the best thing on the menu besides morphine muffins.
We're all pulling for you over here in London. Its great to hear you're coming along well.
Anyway, to take up Mark's lead on making light and innappropriate jokes, as an expert on useless info I can tell you with a reasonable amount of bull-sh*t that the average joe-human coils up around 25 feet of intestines behind his or her mono-ab.
However howler monkeys and sloths have extra long intestines as they dont move around as much and generally have a slower digesting process. (Can anyone see where I'm going with this?).
Anyway, based on your body hair to weight ratio, and your relative speed on the touch field, I'll be picking that you proooobably have more than the average length of intestine to play with, so you should be right to loose a few inches huh.
My tip is that aloe vera juice tastes like howler monkey wee but might help if you've got problems with your gut. I'm sure the (hopefully) buxom district nurse will have all the info for you anyway.
Right, Thanks Mark, keep us posted. Sam, if you get an annonymous strip-o-gramme I'd blame Bloxy.
Marty
Sarge, u,ve got all the sandsd clan waiting to see the messages they sent, r u getting them.
Hi Sam ,
Big love from us and the kids,we are very impressed with Sarges efforts on your behalf,he has tapped into just the kind of humour we appreciate.
We are following your every movement from afar and holding our breath ,not strictly neccesary at this distance,as we follow this rollercoaster to recovery.
Im having a drink to your health
as i type this,so the spelling could get weird here on in.
Marty, you got the genus wrong with the sloth/monkey thing ,the name Barnes derives from that other hairy Hibernating beast, the Bear,
but otherwise you were spot on.
big hugs from us
love

Kia ora team, cheers sarge! what big brains you have to think of such an idea.
Hey big bro, looking forward to being there with you and mum tomorrow. I've got this awesome tea for you to try, aparently it helps when your having radio and chemo. Can't wait for a big hug!
Love you guys so much!
your sis, al bay xoxoxoxox
Hey Sam
Great news you're out of hospital and your farts have returned to their original capability. Moonriver has done an excellent job creating this blog thing as it means overseas people like us can keep tabs on your progress.
All the best mate
Chris, Vik and the family
Gidday Barnsey, glad to hear you are back home, bummer I missed you the other weekend. Spotted 4 satellites and 2 shooting stars while Rego was up yarning to you on the Friday, pretty sure both of them were for you mate.I managed to keep the muppet out of trouble for a few hours on the Saturday...made him grovel in 2 foot surf for 4 hours. He loves it.
Take it easy and rest up.
Later!
Marcus
Hey brother
GREAT NEWS - good to hear you are back home at Insoll Ave.
Sarge is doing a top job.
I think you must be like Austin Powers - every where you go, everyone falls in love with you.
Here are some words fit for the Return of King Sam
"Wherever you may be
let your wind blow free"...
I know... sad and old, just like me - and no...I won't give up my day job! - leafaloo xxx alofa tele atu bro!
Oi Sam bro
here's a really stink joke for you...
An old couple are sitting in church. The old lady leans over and whispers to her husband.
"Hey - guess what? I just did a silent fart"
The old dude leans over and replies to his wife...
"Hey - I think you better check the batteries on your hearing aid"
another sad and dri joke ...but wait, theres more.... leafa
Hey Sammy,
Glad to hear your bowels are on the mend (also glad that I'm on the other side of the Tamsan sea). I'm sure your looking forward to having a solid meal anytime soon. I've got a slipped disc in my back at the moment and part of the rehab is intensive lower ab exercises a side effect being an overactive arse trumpet. There's no joy to be had sitting in a meeting with the management team and dropping a fart that could take down an adult rhino, but then again maybe there is.
Anywho you're in our thoughts over here in Aus and we're wishing you a speedy recovery. We're hoping the next round of treatment is easy on you!
hugs
Giles and Cicilie
Well Sarge...grateful as I am to have this opportunity to post a comment, you will not be surprised to hear that it took me at least half and hour to access the site and then another half an hour or so to work out how to post a comment. All great procrastination for one who has oh...4 days now to start and finish a disertation...(perhaps I should also learn how to spell it!). 'Moonriver' suits you BTW.
Sam darling...what can I say that hasn't already been said? As is the case with everyone else...you've not been far from my thoughts at all times.
It just occurred to me while I was contemplating the reality that miracles happen that Mum's a pretty good example - you will recall her illness sometime back. Suffice to say that medically speaking she shouldn't be here with us now. But more about that some other time.
I'm sure you've heard similar stories of recovery to encourage you and yes, there is no good reason why you can't and won't be one of those people. (-:
HIGH FIVE, SAM.
LOL, Rach.
PS congratulate me for getting through this exercise without referring to bodily functions and/or excretions. Tempting as it was.
Hey dude
Rach is so right - sorry about the bodily function stuff.
I guess that kind of information (thanks Sarge!!!) just invites silly and puerile comments from 'eggs' like me - hee hee heee... and Krishna too i noticed ha ha ha ha
lulu leafa - you're doing good Sam!
Hej hej,
That's the most formal of greetings from the capital of Scandinavia. I must first mention that the blog along with it's numerous authors are to be commended and I just hope it can continue, to keep those of us who are latitudinally (as well as climatically) challenged, up to date.
Sam, you are indeed a fountain of strength and courage with an indeterminable reserve of fortitude. My thoughts are with you daily, and as already stated I am holding my thumbs at every opportunity.
If it comforts you at all...it is now -5 degrees and it is snowing yet again. I think the record so far has been -15 degrees. We had our first football match of the pre-season last weekend outside...under lights on a snow covered pitch. We all had to wear long shorts called 'knickers', matching hats, gloves and tops. What an experience for this kiwi-boy. We won!
